Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer Intern to help establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools, and to contribute to project success by utilizing these standards and tools.

Requirements

  • Familiar with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Familiar with building MEP systems design software such as Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP is a plus
  • Comfortable with the use of basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs

Responsibilities

  • Have a basic understanding of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Develop familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable codes, policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Become familiar with building codes and standards for the design of building MEP systems.
  • Under the guidance of other engineers, support the system design concept, equipment sizing, equipment selection, system controls, and the finalized design for industrial buildings and administration buildings including: offices, server/computer rooms, warehouses, F type industrial, H type industrial, and Class I, Division 1 & 2.
  • Under the guidance of other engineers, prepare production drawings and specifications for building-related lighting, power, HVAC, and plumbing systems that will be used in deliverable packages sent to sub-contractors for bidding.
  • Assist with technical bid analysis reviews.
  • Check and navigate 3D models for review of interferences and constructability during design and construction administration.

Other

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering (with a mechanical or MEP focus) or Mechanical Engineering
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Self-starter that can integrate with various engineering design disciplines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Regular, reliable attendance
