The DET Bureau of Application Services is looking to hire a Business Applications Developer to provide advanced technical expertise for the planning, development, implementation, security, and administration of applications with statewide impact, with a primary focus on IT Service Management (ITSM) systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with ServiceNow development or administration, including configuration of core ITSM modules (e.g., incident, change, request, or CMDB).
- Experience and proficiency with JavaScript for scripting within ServiceNow (client-side and server-side).
- Experience or training in .NET application development for building, maintaining, or integrating applications.
- Advanced hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including custom applications, integrations (REST/SOAP, MID Server), and Service Portal development.
- Experience in .NET, SQL, and modern development practices (CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, automated testing, or containerization).
- Proven experience detailing the ability to lead enterprise-scale ITSM initiatives, including solution design, stakeholder collaboration, and implementation of secure, scalable workflows.
- Knowledge of secure software development frameworks (NIST 800-218 SSDF, ISO 27034) is critical.
Responsibilities

- research, standardization, deployment, administration, and support of all tools associated with business applications and enterprise systems.
- analyzing, designing, planning, implementing, and maintaining advanced applications, tracking emerging technologies, and applying DevSecOps principles across the software development lifecycle.
- leveraging out-of-box functions and work in low-code no-code platforms to meet business requirements.
- ITSM administration as well as web application design and development to ensure business partner’s needs are met.
- system integration, database development, reporting, and production support.
- consultation and leadership to IT professionals and coordinates with project managers, security specialists, and enterprise users.

- All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin.
- This position will have the option of working remotely upon agreement of the supervisor but may be asked to come into the office periodically.
