The Center for Biomedical Research Support (CBRS) at UT Austin needs a Director to provide strategic vision, leadership, and management for its core facilities, aiming to maintain and strengthen a culture of collaboration and innovation within the research community.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in core facility administration or other similar large research organization.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific discipline, such as biomedical or biochemical sciences, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience managing financial budgets for a core research facility.
- Skilled in writing funding proposals.
- Experience supervising staff, with demonstrated success in mentoring and fostering leadership development.
- Familiarity with the operational needs of shared research resources and technologies.
- Over 5 years' experience in core facility administration
- 5 years' experience working with financial budgets of a multi-unit center.
- 5 years' experience writing successfully funded proposals.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and guidance to CBRS core facility directors and managers, fostering effective leadership and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with financial leadership in OVPR on strategic initiatives, financial reporting, and recapitalization requests.
- Partner with OVPR leadership to develop and submit research proposals to secure funding for shared resources.
- Oversee the rate review process for CBRS cores, including close collaboration with Research Core Facilities throughout the process.
- Manage annual reporting that summarizes current progress and outlines future goals for CBRS core facilities.
- Develop and manage institutional subsidy request justifications.
- Collaborate with core facility directors and advisory committees to encourage input and coordination with internal entities, and to manage and expand services offered by each CBRS core.
