The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a Senior Instructor to assist with developing research in health equity and provide statistical expertise to support the Center for Health Equity's community-driven data dashboard and evaluation initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's degree, or higher, in statistics, biostatistics, or related field
  • Minimum two years' programming experience in statistical software (SAS, R, or similar)
  • Three years' experience in research/evaluation, including experience with various research methods, data collection, data management and analysis
  • Experience with GIS mapping and spatial analysis of neighborhood and community-level data (preferred)
  • Training or research experience in health equity, social determinants of health, and/or structural determinants of health (preferred)
  • Experience analyzing large administrative datasets, census data, or electronic medical record data (preferred)
  • Experience with data visualization and creating accessible data products for diverse audiences (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a program of research focused on social determinants of health, securing extramural funding through competitive grant applications
  • Designs and implements spatial analysis using GIS software to develop and maintain the CHE's community-driven data dashboard
  • Writes statistical programs in SAS, R, or other statistical software to analyze data collected from various research projects
  • Conducts complex statistical analyses including advanced methods (e.g., multilevel and longitudinal mixed effects models, multiple linear and logistic regression, spatial analysis, and survival analysis)
  • Develops and implements methodologies for community-engaged research that centers community voice and prioritizes community-defined metrics and outcomes
  • Consults with PIs, Co-Is, and community partners on the design and implementation of data collection and analysis methodology for research projects
  • Manages data files that are derived from data collection, with special attention to data sovereignty and ethical data stewardship in community-engaged research

Other

  • Master's degree, or higher, in statistics, biostatistics, or related field
  • Ph.D. or currently pursuing a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, social epidemiology, public health, social work, sociology, or related field with substantial quantitative training (preferred)
  • Experience working with communities that experience health disparities and engaging community members in research processes (preferred)
  • Experience in securing extramural funding through competitive grant applications (preferred)
  • Two years (2) of research experience in healthcare, public health, or social services (preferred)
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, and able to maintain diplomacy with all collaborating partners, including community members, faculty, and staff
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills; ability to independently analyze and resolve complex problems as well as self-directed work capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate statistical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Strong work ethic including responsiveness to colleagues, attention to detail, and productivity
  • Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in virtual environment
  • Commitment to the principles of community engagement and co-creation of knowledge with community partners
