Chess.com is looking to improve the way they introduce chess to kids and families by crafting core experiences that guide users from their first interaction through to becoming a paying subscriber, focusing on growth, user retention, engagement, monetization, and renewal strategies.
Requirements
- Strong visual design skills combined with a solid understanding of UX principles, particularly in the context of Growth and Monetization Design.
- 5+ years of professional design experience focused on consumer mobile applications and web with a proven track record of driving improvements in user retention, engagement, monetization, and conversion rates.
- An online portfolio showcasing mobile and web design work, with particular emphasis on projects that improved conversion rates and influenced purchasing decisions, such as landing pages, marketing sites, and membership flows.
- Deep knowledge of Figma and experience working within established design systems.
- Experimenting with AI-powered design tools to build hifi prototypes to test and present with
- Motion design and UI animation skills
Responsibilities
- Craft high-quality, responsive designs for both mobile and web native platforms, focusing on first-time user experience, user growth and monetization.
- Design and optimize top-of-funnel experiences, conversion flows, and customer retention initiatives.
- Balance rapid, parallel experiments while keeping a long-term design vision in mind.
- Design landing pages, top-level interfaces, registration flows, product marketing integrations, and sales pages with a focus on optimizing key performance metrics such as conversion rates, user retention, and lifetime value (LTV).
- Create and iterate on designs that improve user onboarding, engagement tactics, upgrade nudges, and premium membership flows to maximize user retention and renewals.
- Own your designs from initial concept through to implementation, ensuring consistency across platforms and touch points.
- Collaborate on Growth initiatives that focus on onboarding and Monetization strategies, including upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
Other
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Marketers, Copywriters, Engineers, and other stakeholders to translate goals and requirements into effective UI designs that enhance user engagement and conversion.
- Present your design proposals and clearly articulate your decisions, backing them up with contextual rationale, user insights, and best practices.
- Help your design teammates by providing constructive feedback in design reviews and sharing insights to improve overall team output.
- Ability to take ownership of initiatives and influence core marketing and monetization strategies through effective design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain design decisions and present data-backed solutions.
- Sense of ownership, responsibility, and a continuous improvement mindset to enhance the overall user experience and business impact.
- Experience in kids gaming/edtech
