Houston Engineering Inc. is looking to solve the problem of developing the next generation of engineers through hands-on mentorship and providing valuable learning experiences for interns.
Requirements
Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
Ability to work with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.
Knowledge of electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
Familiarity with various software used in civil engineering.
Ability to perform data collection and observation at project sites.
Basic understanding of roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, and erosion control.
Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
Responsibilities
Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and update redlines with various project set drawings.
Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
Perform work in a variety of software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, etc.
Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
Assist with research, development and design of projects.
Learning how to do roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, and erosion control.
Other
Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
Above average math and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
