The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) needs to maintain and improve its vast water and sewer systems, including the operation, maintenance, and protection of the City’s drinking water and wastewater collection systems, and the initiation of capital projects to ensure potable water is delivered at the appropriate pressure and volume. The Division of Distribution Operations is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to assist with these engineering tasks.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
Responsibilities
- Assist in engineering investigations or studies.
- Assist in engineering reviews.
- Participate in field survey operations.
- Assist in the preparation of maps, design plans, contracts, and working drawings.
- Make calculations.
- Assist in the preparation and recommendation of alternatives to the rehabilitation and repair of the system.
Other
- A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York is required for this position.
- Employees must maintain this license for the duration of their employment.
- This is for a provisional Civil Engineering Intern position.
- This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
