Ascent Geomatics Solutions is looking to advance its civil engineering practice to support projects in the Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy sectors by hiring a Civil Engineering Manager who can lead and mentor a team while remaining hands-on with design and review work.
Requirements
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, Hydraflow, etc.).
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and standards, with demonstrated ability to apply them across energy, oil and gas, and renewable project environments.
- Knowledge of national civil and stormwater design standards (FHWA, AASHTO, FEMA, EPA) and adaptability to multi-state regulatory environments.
- 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in site design, grading, drainage, and utilities for energy or infrastructure projects.
- 3–5 years of leadership experience managing engineers, designers, or technical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and departmental performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of site civil engineering projects, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency.
- Review design work for quality and compliance, including grading, drainage, roadway, and utility design.
- Mentor and develop engineers and designers through coaching, feedback, and technical oversight.
- Lead and manage Ascent’s Civil Engineering Department, setting goals, processes, and performance standards aligned with company strategy.
- Coordinate with Survey, GIS, and Permitting departments to align data, standards, and deliverables for integrated project execution.
- Support project estimating, proposals, and business development efforts in partnership with Project Managers and senior leadership.
- Participate in client meetings and represent Ascent as a technical leader in energy and infrastructure design.

- Remote-first flexibility with collaboration across continental U.S. time zones (Mountain Standard or Central Time preferred).
- Travel limited to client offices, project sites, and occasional in-person meetings (approximately 5%).
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (multi-state licensure preferred).
