The Hanover is seeking a Claims Data Analyst to leverage claims data to provide insights into business performance, analyze variances in loss results, identify areas for improvement, and build reporting analytics for quicker and more comprehensive insights.
Requirements
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to perform exploratory data analysis.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel and basic knowledge of SQL; ability to efficiently work with large and complex data sets.
- Experience with turning raw data into meaningful information; ability to summarize complex business concepts into written and oral communications (including the use of PowerPoint).
- Familiar with key industry financial/operational metrics.
Responsibilities
- Analyze claims data and effectively communicate conclusions in writing and verbally.
- Draw insights and observations from detailed and multifaceted claims data and reports.
- Respond to urgent/timely requests and produce routine and ad hoc information in a rapid and dynamic turnaround climate.
- Participate in the development or enhancement of complex reports and tools for multiple lines of business.
- Quantify the impacts of internal operational changes and external trends on frequency, severity, and overall loss results.
- Develop industry knowledge and internal data expertise to provide solutions to complex business questions.
- Able to respond to urgent/timely requests and produce routine and ad hoc information in a rapid and dynamic turnaround climate.
Other
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field (math, finance, actuarial science, or analytics preferred).
- 2-4 years of related analytical and property & casualty industry experience preferred (e.g. actuarial, business analytics, or finance).
- Strong organization, project, and time management skills; ability to multi-task and meet all deadlines with quality product.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex information effectively in written and oral form.
- Understands the importance of developing and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with others at all levels of the organization in order to accomplish organizational goals.
