The Ohio State University's Clinical Trials Office (CTO) is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to support clinical research activities and routine clinical services, ensuring the smooth operation of clinical trials and providing high-quality care to hospital patients.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in medical terminology
  • Experience in handling equine and food animal patients is preferred
  • State of Ohio Current Registered Veterinary Technician certification
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a clinical setting working with small animals

Responsibilities

  • Assist investigators and clinical staff with the coordination and execution of clinical research protocols.
  • Support patient care activities related to clinical research, including patient intake, sample collection, delivering therapies, and patient monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of research-related procedures and patient interactions.
  • Assists with identifying potential patients according to specified clinical research protocol eligibility.
  • Recruits, interviews, enrolls patients, obtains informed consent and ensures consent process is completed in compliance to regulatory and sponsor requirements.
  • Assists with clinical trial patient care by restraining, blood collections, placing IV catheters, administering medications, etc.

Other

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a clinical setting working with small animals
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and after-hours, may be required to accommodate research protocols and patient needs.
  • May involve exposure to animals, biological samples, and clinical environments.
  • Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
