The Volvo Group is looking to unlock the power of data to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future, requiring a Data Engineer Co-op to support digital operations and ensure quality, reliable data.
Requirements
- Skill in programming languages such as Python and SQL
- Knowledge of Azure Databricks, PySpark, SQL, Airflow, PowerBI, Agile and Scrum
- Knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases.
- Familiarity with big data technologies and data processing frameworks.
- Understanding working in agile environments (e.g., DevOps).
- Work with various cloud data tools such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks to ingest and prepare data for analysis as per business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Extract, combine, transform, load, manipulate, and cleanse data from various sources to ensure high-quality datasets for analysis.
- Work closely with data modelers and business analysts to understand the data model and source-to-staging data mapping.
- Design and develop Python code for extracting data from various input data sources.
- Monitor database systems to ensure jobs run successfully, address any failures promptly, and maintain optimal performance and availability.
- Develop and deploy algorithms in performance-efficient code across analytical and data platforms.
- Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines using data processing frameworks in cloud platforms or on-premises environments.
- Leverage best practices in continuous integration and delivery to enhance data workflows.
Other
- Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in (Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering) at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
- Co-ops are not enrolled in academic courses during their co-op rotation and may work up to 40 hours per week.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with proficiency in English for international projects.
