Koniag Data Solutions is seeking a COBOL Developer to maintain and enhance legacy systems while supporting modernization initiatives within production and potential development/testing environments.
Requirements
Working knowledge of COBOL, IBM MVS JCL, and related mainframe technologies
Familiarity with mainframe terminal emulation tools
Understanding of mainframe architecture and operating systems (z/OS, MVS)
Experience with batch processing and online transaction processing
Knowledge of STIG compliance requirements
Experience with FTP and SFTP protocols
Familiarity with Help Desk ticketing systems
Responsibilities
Write and modify COBOL, COBOL Language Extender (COBOL LE), and IBM MVS JCL code
Use tools such as DISA Multi-host Internet Access Portal (MIAP) and Reflection ZFE for 3270 terminal emulation
Troubleshoot and fix production issues under guidance of senior team members
Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation including: Application operating and installation instructions, Interface diagrams and product design documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICD) for the Corporate Data Repository System (CDRS)
Perform code testing and participate in code reviews
Support FTP and SFTP transmission operations
Implement Help Desk resolutions for Level II and III tickets
Other
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
8+ years of experience in COBOL programming
Active Secret Clearance
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
