Florida Blue is looking to advance its analytical capabilities and decision support by developing top talent in commercial analytics. The internship aims to provide interns with hands-on experience in research, data analysis, model building, and insight presentation to solve business needs across various departments.
Requirements
- Coursework that demonstrates analytical abilities and interest, as well as critical thinking
- Perform accurate and timely research, data modeling using SQL, SAS and/or R, and in-depth analysis to develop recommendations for decision makers across the company
- Modify and create models and/or visualizations that are used for evaluation and forecasting
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, extract data, create models, build visualizations, interpret results, and present impactful insights.
- Developing a self-service visualization tool to compare our position against competitors and key metrics against the Consumer Price Index
- Analyzing data using multiple coding languages to create visualizations and interactive tools to interpret trends and important factors impacting healthcare outcomes
- Conducting in-depth research on publicly available social determinants of health (SDoH) data, including applying machine learning methods to create indices for future projects
- Creating an impact score to assess how individual variables impact overall performance outcomes
- Building a dashboard focused on the member care process to improve health outcomes and provide insights to our clinical business partners
- Analyzing medical deserts to determine when a member’s care may be negatively affected by their proximity to health care services
Other
- Currently enrolled as an active student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program and not graduating prior to August 2026
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum 3.0 GPA, must maintain throughout the duration of the internship
- This in-person, paid internship includes: Paid housing during the internship for individuals not local to Jacksonville, FL
- Teambuilding activities with other interns and staff
