Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • At least 15+ years of experience in a safety focused role within an engineering environment
  • Minimum 15 years of experience spanning the following disciplines: engine turbofan architecture, mechanical design, engine operation and engine assembly procedures
  • Knowledge and ability to learn quickly of safety risk assessment generation process, interpretation, and presentation
  • Knowledge of engine turbofan architecture, mechanical design and assembly procedures
  • Knowledge of safety risk assessment generation, interpretation and presentation
  • Familiarity with GE’s product lines and their joint venture partners

Responsibilities

  • Flight Readiness Review (FRR) leadership in collaboration with the appropriate program Engineering manager and the program Project manager
  • Develop flight safety training material and provide training and coaching to other flight safety engineers and investigators
  • Serve as safety advisor to the RISE program and all other NPI programs
  • Execute a process to identify and mitigate safety risks to an acceptable level; conduct rigorous safety risk assessments when authorized, hazard evaluations, utilize human factors principles to drive design improvements to minimize human error in the operation and maintenance of the product in the field
  • Serve as GE Aerospace flight safety point of contact for safety investigations by governmental agencies and regulators ensuring the safe operation of the fleet
  • Collect and create records of the evidence and facts associated with accidents, incidents or field events
  • Lead the end-to-end process for Product Line Risk Assessments (RAs) including preparation, formal review, presentation, and documentation

  • Must be willing to serve as a field investigator
  • Role will require 25% travel annually
  • Ability to travel globally
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, this role requires interfacing with senior management, airframer, engine partners and external regulators
  • U.S. lawful permanent residents, U.S. Citizens, or have been granted asylee or refugee status
