AARP is seeking to empower people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age, and is looking for an intern to assist with communications and volunteer engagement in North Dakota, focusing on issues such as fraud prevention, Social Security, and community livability.
Requirements
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Familiarity with creating and editing videos
- Knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plus
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing public/volunteer educational and training materials
- Work with volunteer presenters to let community groups and others know of available presentations
- Apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to assist with AARP North Dakota’s social media accounts to include video production
- Capture video and engaging stories at events for future promotion and storytelling about AARP’s work in North Dakota
- Write draft stories for the state webpage, news releases, newsletter stories, social media posts, and emails to members and volunteers
- Assist in delivering events in the community as needed
Other
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship, or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
- Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
- Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
