Gorrill Palmer, part of LJB Engineering, is seeking a Construction Inspector Intern to work on Maine Department of Transportation construction inspection assignments, specifically on roadway paving, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projects.
Requirements
- Limited knowledge in the principles and practice of engineering and construction
- Basic construction inspection, measurement and documentation skills
- Ability to perform basic field testing
- Familiarity with computation of quantities and checking work for compliance with specifications
- Ability to collect quantity tickets on paving projects
- Valid driver’s license; safe/reliable transportation
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to follow directions provided by supervisor
Responsibilities
- Inspection duties will include basic construction inspection, measurement and documentation of construction activities, computation of quantities and checking work for compliance with specifications.
- Performing basic field testing and communicating the test results to your supervisor
- Collecting quantity tickets on paving projects
- Providing inspection on roadway paving, rehabilitation and reconstruction projects
- Work may include traveling to the job site, with locations varying depending on the assignment
- Following directions provided by supervisors and senior staff
- Interacting with others on the job site, including inspectors and contractors
Other
- Seeking a college degree (2-year or 4-year) in Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent
- Willing to work more than 40 hours per week
- Good communicator, with solid writing/math skills
- Ability to interact with others on the job site, including inspectors and contractors
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to follow directions provided by supervisor
