To meet the increasing demand for advanced energy storage solutions and ensure technical excellence across EnerSys' lines of business (LOBs), we are seeking a Consulting Product Engineer dedicated to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in BESS design, integration, and performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of PCS, EMS, and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (UL, IEC, IEEE, NFPA) and regulatory frameworks.
  • 10+ years of experience in energy storage, battery technology, or related engineering fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and drive innovation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of comprehensive BESS sizing criteria, including energy capacity (kWh), power output (kW), and lifecycle performance (e.g., degradation rates, cycle life, calendar life).
  • Establish tolerancing methodologies to address environmental variability, aging effects, and operational uncertainties.
  • Oversee the integration of BESS with Power Conversion Systems (PCS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) to ensure compatibility, efficiency, and robust control strategies.
  • Define and validate interface specifications, communication protocols, and system-level performance metrics.
  • Guide the selection and evaluation of battery technologies and architectures aligned with project requirements and long-term sustainability goals.
  • Drive innovation in system modeling, simulation, and validation to support design optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all BESS designs meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Other

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field; PhD preferred.
  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
