Netflix is looking to bring human perspective and consumer insight to its world of entertainment by hiring a Consumer Insights Intern to work with cross-functional partners across the company.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of qualitative (e.g., interview, diary studies, usability studies, contextual inquiry, concept evaluations, etc) research methods.
  • Knowledge of quantitative (surveys, experiments, statistical hypothesis testing) research methods.
  • Experience executing hands-on, primary research as part of school curriculum or external work.
  • Experience with international research is a plus, but not required.
  • Background in disciplines such as anthropology, ethnography, psychology, sociology, behavioral economics, human-computer interactions or human factors, or UX research.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior researchers and cross-functional partners to examine and leverage existing qualitative and quantitative insights to generate new hypotheses applied to business questions.
  • Assist in identifying and prioritizing knowledge gaps where research can be impactful, and recommend potential methods to address those knowledge gaps.
  • Execute primary and secondary research projects, such as qualitative interviews, prototype evaluations, survey development, etc.
  • Synthesize & communicate findings, craft actionable, data-driven recommendations in partnership with your team.
  • Collaborate in running readout sessions, workshops and brainstorms to help stakeholders understand and engage with insights.

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD (preferred) program of study, with at least one additional quarter or semester of school remaining after the conclusion of the internship.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present research insights through clear storytelling
  • Team player who is comfortable giving and receiving feedback openly
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Degree study in Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Design, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Social Science, Anthropology, Human Factors or related fields.
