The Department of Resident Life at the University of Maryland needs to plan and implement assessment projects to inform their work and improve the student experience. This role will support these efforts by developing data collection methods, managing projects, analyzing data, and producing reports.

Requirements

  • experience with assessment, including survey design, analysis, and reporting
  • general knowledge of statistical methods
  • competence with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Tableau.
  • competence with statistical methods, data management, and data analysis packages (e.g., Tableau, SAS, R and/or other statistical package).
  • Experience using syntax-based analyses and Access database management would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge and experience with survey research methods, including using Qualtrics.
  • Experience producing assessment reports and presentations for non-technical audiences preferred.

Responsibilities

  • support for and implementation of a wide range of assessment projects
  • planning and facilitation of training and educational sessions designed to a) share key highlights of departmental and divisional assessment projects, b) understand how to use data to inform the work they do within our department, and c) how to identify data-informed implications for practice.
  • develop quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, e.g., web-based surveys and focus groups.
  • manage projects, train staff, track and respond to project issues and oversee data collection procedures.
  • Perform data management responsibilities including manipulation of datasets using Excel, preparation of datasets for data analysis, and analyzing data using SPSS.
  • Produce reports and presentations tailored for a variety of audiences.
  • Designs and develops interactive dashboards in Tableau to visualize data and support decision-making.

Other

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Experience with writing and assessing student learning outcomes, especially using direct methods of assessment would be useful.
  • Must have demonstrated experience working with teams and in group settings.
  • Solid organizational and project management skills, as well as attention to detail are major assets in this position.
