Motorola Solutions is looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to join their IT organization as Cyber Security Interns. The role aims to support public safety agencies and enterprises by enhancing their critical communications, video security, and command center technologies, ultimately contributing to safer communities. The internship will provide hands-on experience in identifying and solving complex security challenges within the company's technology infrastructure.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) such as Elastic Stack or Splunk
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, iOS, and virtual environments
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP protocols; Tools: TCPDump, Wireshark, Nmap)
- Forensic knowledge (FTK, Autopsy, Volatility)
- Endpoint Detection knowledge (Wazuh, Velociraptor, OSSEC, OSQuery, OpenEDR)
- Experience with network-based intrusion detection (IDS/IPS - SNORT or Suricata)
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Review logs to identify unusual behavior in networks and devices
- Experience with network-based intrusion detection (IDS/IPS - SNORT or Suricata)
- Understand email protection, investigations (analyze email headers), and protocols (IMAP, SMTP, POP3)
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
- Ability to program and write scripts (Python, Java, Go, or any other modern language)
- Proactive approach and enthusiasm for problem identification and solving
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
Other
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a graduation date of May 2028 or later
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Candidate must be in the Chicago/Schaumburg office 2 days a week.
