The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) is looking to hire a Data Analyst to evaluate government programs, identify risks, and provide data-driven recommendations.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- one (1) year of experience in Data Visualization, and Statistical Models and Data Mining tools.
- A master’s degree or higher in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- two (2) year of experience in Data Visualization, and Statistical Models and Data Mining tools.
- A master’s degree in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field AND one (1) year of experience in Data Visualization, and Statistical Models and Data Mining tools.
- A Ph.D. in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficient at conducting data processing, data formatting, and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- use your technical and analytical skills to evaluate a range of government programs and program areas including policy, procedures, operations, objectives and cost effectiveness to determine actual or potential risk.
- research, identify, and evaluate data sources to determine reliability or usability limitations
- collect, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data
- present results to supervision, covering conclusions and recommendations based on evaluations made.
- conducting data processing, data formatting, and data analysis.
- computer programming experience (e.g., R, Python, Java, C++).
- Data Visualization, and Statistical Models and Data Mining tools.
