The New York State Office of Mental Health is looking to solve the problem of analyzing and integrating clinical and behavioral health data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, treatment plans, and programs.

Requirements

  • Data visualization
  • Statistical models
  • Data mining tools
  • EHR systems, particularly those tailored for behavioral health (e.g., Epic’s Behavioral Health module, Cerner, All Scripts, NetSmart)
  • Knowledge of EHR implementation processes, including data migration, mapping, and validation specific to behavioral health data
  • Familiarity with behavioral health terminology, diagnoses, and treatment modalities
  • Understanding of specific regulatory requirements and standards for behavioral health (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, SAMHSA guidelines, NYS Mental Hygiene Law Part 14)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in generating reports and creating visualizations to present data analysis findings.
  • Responsible for collecting and integrating clinical and behavioral health data from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHRs), patient surveys, and behavioral health assessment tools.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of United State Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) Data Sets across OMH’s larger application portfolio.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data by performing data quality checks and validations.
  • Assist in integrating data from different sources to create a unified view of the data.
  • Assist in the analysis of clinical and behavioral health data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, treatment plans, and programs.
  • Complete documentation on data analysis processes, methodologies, and findings for future reference.

Other

  • A bachelor’s degree* in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools
  • A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one year of the specialized experience
  • A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience
