Steampunk's clients are looking to become a facts-based, data-driven, customer-focused organization by leveraging visual analytics platforms to analyze, visualize, and share information, and Steampunk is building and executing a data strategy to support this goal.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience with data model and date warehouse design, including schema design and entity relationship diagrams
  • 6+ years of experience collaborating with management, personas, and engineers to support data quality efforts
  • Experience with large-scale data migration
  • Experience designing storage and retrieval solutions for both structured and unstructured data, in support of data science pipelines
  • Experience designing data platforms for user consumption
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with cloud technology, using AWS or Azure. Knowledge of managed service offerings (e.g. AWS EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift)

Responsibilities

  • Assess, understand, profile, and document diverse structured and unstructured data sources as part of data discovery and cataloging efforts.
  • Perform deep data analysis to uncover insights, drive business decisions, and inform data architecture and governance strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data governance policies, data quality metrics, metadata management, and access control standards.
  • Respond to technical inquiries related to data integration, enterprise architecture, customization, and functional capabilities of analytical products and platforms.
  • Support and design solutions involving cloud-native database and data warehouse technologies (preferably AWS; alternatively, Azure or GCP).
  • Design and develop solutions to high-impact, complex data problems.
  • Architect and develop data models, data warehouses, data lakes/lakehouses, data governance frameworks, data discovery solutions, and data pipelines.

Other

  • Ability to hold a position of public trust with the US government.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a scientific or technical discipline
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, a passion for data, and a deep curiosity for solving complex problems
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience collaborating with staff, IT customers, and other technical and non-technical staff and contractors at all levels
