Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a Data Analyst to manage and steward data that supports decision-making and reporting, and transform data into clear, actionable outputs that meet reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Experience with Microsoft SQL, R or other programming/database/statistical languages.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to apply mathematical, statistical, and programming concepts and procedures to analyze and solve complex insurance processes.
- Demonstrate strong analytical reasoning, problem solving, technical writing, and collaboration and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation.
- Ability to work effectively with others at all levels.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools
Responsibilities
- Analyze new and existing data to assure high quality. Resolve data issues by working internally across divisions and externally with statistical agents.
- Evaluate and submit reoccurring statutory reporting, verification & payment of assessments, and ad-hoc data calls.
- Create, evaluate, and summarize data assets in a form acceptable for use within the Company or outside the Company, including use by government bureaus, agencies, and others.
- Evaluate and complete regulatory data requests in an accurate and timely manner.
- Understand data sources and the data lineage of various computer systems in the Company.
- Participate in both formal and informal training sessions.
- Effectively communicate with other employees through verbal and written means.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, or related field is required.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship is a requirement.
- Must be able to work in Lansing, Michigan office (not fully remote)
- Ability to work from home up to 3 days per week after initial training
- Actuarial exams are considered but not required.
