The business and/or technical problem the job is looking to solve is to discover and solve problems with varying complexity, uncover insights, and make data-driven recommendations to support critical business decisions. The role will work with stakeholders to build tools and analysis that elevate the customer experience, answer questions, and solve problems through data conceptualization, modeling, and presentation. Additionally, the role will empower users to use data in their decision-making processes through education, innovative dashboards, and relevant data representation.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, Power BI and Excel.
- One (1) year of experience with SAS and/or Python.
- Relational databases, database design and Structured Query Language.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook), Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project.
- Software engineering and the software development lifecycle.
- Automated business applications and their relationships to each other and interfaces with other automated systems.
- Information technology hardware, software and peripherals as related to assigned function.
Responsibilities
- Integrate data from multiple sources to understand requirements for data use, analysis, and quality.
- Perform initial data exploration (binning, pivoting, summarizing, and finding correlations), conceptualizing, and modeling.
- Analyze and interpret results using standard statistical tools and techniques to uncover trends and insights in complex datasets.
- Identify and communicate data trends and outliers.
- Design and create basic reports using databases, tables, indexes, and/or other data sources to translate data into presentable, easy-to-interpret content.
- Performs moderately complex data analysis, which includes compiling and cleaning data, and data manipulation and analysis.
- Utilizes data analysis software and/or appropriate Structured Query Language to perform the analysis.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a directly related field AND two (2) years of relevant work experience; OR, Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Experience creating reports for leadership and familiarity of Data Governance.
- Work experience in the Juvenile Justice or Criminal Justice field.
- May require a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department.
