The Kentucky Department of Education needs a Data Analyst to perform data analysis and research, provide analytical support for IT reporting and integration solutions, and ensure federal and state reporting requirements are met.

Requirements

  • While Extract, transform and load (ETL) and Structured Query Language (SQL) proficiency is beneficial, it is not required.
  • Two years of professional experience in IT data analysis.
  • A master's degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Two years of additional related experience in IT data analysis will substitute for the education requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Performs data analysis and research. Uses data-oriented programming languages and tools to collect, query, analyze, and report on data.
  • Provides analytical support for Information Technology (IT) reporting and integration solutions and recommend data management best practices. Analyzes IT requests to develop effective solutions.
  • Acts as federal reporting lead, plan and execute activities to ensure federal and state reporting requirements are met, and provide analytical support for the centralization, standardization, and design of file creation and reporting systems and processes.
  • Collaborates with federal partners, vendors, system users, and program areas to ensure efficient systems and processes.
  • Implements processes to identify and resolve data quality issues. Provides recommendations for data standards and training.
  • Plans, develops, and maintains functional requirements, procedures, and other reporting documentation to support repeatable processes.
  • Provides technical assistance and develop custom reporting tools to meet state and local education agencies' information reporting needs.

  • This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
  • May require minimal travel.
