The University of Chicago's Facilities Services department is looking to improve department performance, service delivery, efficiency, and data transparency by analyzing and visualizing data.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with Tableau (and/or Power BI), including linking multiple data sets.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with SmartSheet.
  • The ability to leverage APIs to extract data from systems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, in addition to database experience and understanding the format data must be in to manipulate it.
  • Working knowledge of Python required to help automate job processes and streamline tasks.
  • Understanding how to use BI tools to generate reports.
  • Familiarity with organization of architectural drawing sets.

Responsibilities

  • Work with management team to create a prioritized list of data analytics and reporting needs for each business unit.
  • Work to achieve an integrated reporting and analysis environment, effectively leveraging analytical systems and tools.
  • Conducts requirements analysis, translating requirements into a scope document and developing reporting deliverables based on the design.
  • Participates in the development of Business Intelligence (BI) and other analytical applications.
  • Works with users to ensure deliverables meet or exceed expectations.
  • Provides support and communicates issues to users as defined by IT standards.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-disciplinary collaborative team.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel to and work at various locations across campus to meet with team members or to inspect buildings and grounds.
