Mass General Brigham is looking to advance its mission by studying cancer genomics and epigenomics, and is seeking a data analyst to join an interdisciplinary team working on rigorous analysis of next generation sequencing data and other multi-omics datasets from tumor and normal samples.

Requirements

  • Excellent programming skills in Python or R (both preferred)
  • Familiarity with software engineering practices and algorithms, including version control (e.g., Git) and reproducible workflows.
  • Building proficiency in statistics, data analysis, and data sets.
  • Solid quantitative, analytical and technical aptitude skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, spreadsheet, and database PC applications.
  • Comfort using Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Google Docs to summarize and communicate results between team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English

Responsibilities

  • Apply existing and novel algorithms to cancer data sets, critically review, analyze and visualize results.
  • Design, implement and develop analysis approaches, workflows and novel software tools for large multi-omics data sets (genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic and proteomic data).
  • Contribute to quantitative molecular analysis pipelines under the supervision of staff or faculty, including: Assisting with hypothesis generation and experimental design
  • Performing downstream data processing, quality control, and statistical analysis
  • Interpreting and visualizing results for internal and external presentations
  • Assist senior team members with curation, organization, and maintenance of large datasets and related metadata.
  • Support and train new users on analysis workflows and tools; help standardize best practices for multi-omic and proteomic data analysis.

Other

  • B.A./B.S/M.S. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
  • Strong interest in cancer research; prior experience in this area is an advantage
  • Demonstrated independence, strong self-motivation, and ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of physicians, experimental scientists, statisticians and software engineers
  • Participate in dealing with all levels of employees /management and building proficient relationships with teams and all organizational customers.
