Motional is looking to solve the problem of enabling fast, informed decision-making across the organization by designing scalable data models, building production-ready pipelines, and developing self-service analytics. The insights generated will directly influence operational execution, testing efficiency, and the performance of their autonomous vehicle technology, providing operational leadership and executives with a clear view into the analytical performance of their self-driving product.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python, R, or a similar programming language for data analysis.
- Experience performing exploratory data analysis (EDA), data cleaning, and basic data exploration to identify patterns, anomalies, and insights.
- Intermediate level experience with Linux and scripting languages (E.g: Bash/Shell, Python).
- Intermediate level experience with software engineering concepts, including requirements analysis, source control, build processes, design reviews.
- Experience using issue tracking and configuration management tools (E.g: Atlassian Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Git).
- Familiarity with Jira (or similar issue tracking systems)
Responsibilities
- Querying, analyzing, auditing, and presenting data reports on a variety of AV performance metrics to support AV Testing, Global Operations and executive leadership group.
- Be the primary owner of operational metrics storytelling, dashboard creation, and performance deep dives, translating complex trends into executive-ready insights.
- Develop and own clean, production-ready datasets that power reporting in Looker, Redash, and other visualization tools.
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using tools like dbt, Python, and AWS to ingest, transform, and structure AV operational data.
- Apply best practices in data modeling, testing, version control, and documentation to ensure reproducibility and scalability.
- Perform comprehensive quality assurance, ensuring that data meet specifications and reports remain accurate and reliable even in the face of process and tool changes.
- Partner with Operations and Testing stakeholders to maintain a rapid and iterative feedback loop for metrics creation and monitoring.
