The Legislative Budget Board (LBB) is looking to solve the problem of analyzing and synthesizing data and information related to the state of Texas criminal justice system and/or health and human service populations.
Requirements
- Use analytic software (i.e. Python, R, etc.) and relational databases to analyze data sets.
- Use business tools successfully (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, customized applications, desktop pc, laptop/tablet, and smart phone).
- Analyze, synthesize, and summarize quantitative and qualitative information.
- Identify alternatives and make recommendations supported with empirical evidence.
- Use accepted statistical methods to forecast future needs and costs.
- Use appropriate coding language and practices for developing web applications and automations.
- Use relational databases to analyze data sets.
Responsibilities
- Collect, organize, and assess data for accuracy.
- Use statistical methods and software to analyze data sets and project program participation and costs.
- Present and explain findings and recommendations to LBB management, legislative committees, and others.
- Conduct quality assurance procedures to generate accurate and complete work products.
- Prepare written reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations.
- Prepare fiscal and population impact estimates of recommendations and legislation.
- Research, evaluate, and refine projection methodologies.
Other
- Graduation with a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required.
- Two years of progressively responsible full-time work experience in data collection, analysis, and error resolution is preferred.
- Think critically, take initiative, and use good judgment.
- Communicate professionally in writing and orally (including presentations in formal and informal settings).
- Willing and able to travel up to 25%.
