The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) needs to analyze and synthesize complex contracting data to improve contract management integrity and accountability, enhance controls to mitigate contract risk, and increase efficiency during the implementation of a new contract and grants management system.
Requirements
- Knowledge of data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Knowledge of Master Data Management concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of information security requirements.
- Knowledge of risk assessment theories, techniques, and methodologies.
- Knowledge and understanding of relational database design and data systems architecture.
- Ability to create strong data visualizations using Tableau or other data visualization tools
- Ability to read and write SQL queries
Responsibilities
- Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques and interprets results to identify significant differences in data.
- Creates databases to organize and quickly retrieve data/ad hoc reports.
- Collects, queries, analyzes, and prepares data requests using various (CAPPS Fin., SCOR, IMPACT, Salesforce) data systems and tools (Webi, SQL, Tableau and Databricks) for contract related reporting and financial expenditures.
- Creates complex data queries using multiple data sources.
- Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.
- Ensures data integrity by identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies in the content, structure, and relationships within data; cleans and prepares data, as necessary.
- Produces and maintains data visualization reports in an easy to understand format that supports decision making, identifies opportunities for efficiencies, risk management, and continuous opportunities for systematic improvements.
Other
- Performs moderately complex (journey-level) data analysis and data research work.
- Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- This position will also be responsible for providing guidance to other data analysts
- Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) and Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD) preferred.
- 5 years of experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and/or reporting work.
