The Data Analyst ensures that high-quality, accurate, and accessible data are available for internal stakeholders, local education agencies (LEAs), and the public, helping the department drive equity and improved outcomes for students with disabilities across New Mexico.

Requirements

  • providing GIS support, research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency.
  • Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze data submissions from LEAs and provide technical support to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Extract, clean, and run data from systems such as Nova and EdFacts for federal and state reporting.
  • Maintain and organize the data portfolio for the Office of Special Education, ensuring data integrity and version control.
  • Develop and maintain interactive data dashboards to track special education indicators and performance metrics.
  • Build and update data summary reports and maintain consistent data reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to build/maintain district profile reports, integrating visual and narrative data elements.
  • Design and maintain accessible public-facing data visualizations that promote transparency and data literacy.

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • We would like all staff to get a Defensive Driving Certificate since this position may require some travel between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
  • Required NM Driver's License.
  • Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
  • Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
  • Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
