The Human Resources department at Hennepin County needs a Principal Planning Analyst to collect, analyze, and interpret complex workforce data to provide actionable insights for improving HR strategies, processes, and decision-making.
Requirements
- Experience with at least four years of experience in data analysis or a related field, preferably within a human resources environment.
- Leveraging data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization software like Tableau or Power BI.
- Applying analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Ability to utilize programming languages such as Python or R.
Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and interpret HR data from various sources, including employee records, surveys, and performance metrics.
- Create detailed reports and presentations that summarize data findings and provide recommendations for HR initiatives.
- Identify trends and patterns in HR data, such as turnover rates, employee engagement levels, and recruitment effectiveness, benefit utilization rates, workforce demographics, etc.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and other visualization tools to present data in a clear and impactful manner.
- Work closely with HR team members and other departments to support data-driven projects and initiatives.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of HR data by regularly reviewing and validating data entries.
- Implement and adhere to data security protocols to protect sensitive employee information.

- Providing strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data findings to non-technical audiences.
- Providing high-level of accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of HR processes and metrics, including employee engagement, turnover, and performance management.

- Must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
