MANTECH seeks a Data and AI Policy Specialist to provide strategic advice and expert guidance on Data and AI-related policy, law, and regulations to federal clients.

Requirements

  • Sufficient technical literacy to effectively communicate with data scientists and engineers about how policy requirements impact system design and development.
  • Deep familiarity with key federal AI and data policy documents, such as the National AI Action Plan, relevant Executive Orders, and OMB Guidance.
  • A documented history of developing and implementing technology governance or compliance frameworks in a federal environment.
  • Experience designing and leading workshops on AI ethics, policy, or data governance for senior government leaders.
  • Direct experience shaping AI/ML solutions from a policy, ethics, and compliance perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead subject matter expert for interpreting client data policies, Departmental directives, Executive Orders, and other legal and regulatory mandates.
  • Analyze new policies and legislation to determine their impact on current and future Data & AI projects, providing actionable recommendations for compliance.
  • Translate complex legal and policy requirements into clear, verifiable technical and operational requirements for engineering and data science teams.
  • Develop and implement governance frameworks and compliance checklists to ensure our AI solutions adhere to the principles of Responsible AI (RAI), ethics, and fairness.
  • Serve as the principal mentor and guide for project staff on data governance, privacy, AI ethics, and policy compliance.

  • Provide strategic advice and expert guidance to program staff and federal clients on the complex landscape of Data and AI-related policy, law, and regulations.
  • A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in roles requiring deep policy expertise, such as Policy Advisor, Compliance Officer, Data Governance Lead, or Technology-focused Legal/Ethics Advisor.
  • Demonstrated history of leading policy analysis or compliance efforts for complex technology programs within the federal government or military.
  • Expert-level ability to interpret complex legislation, regulations, and policies and apply them to mission-critical technology challenges.
  • Active TS clearance.
