DigitalOcean is looking to maintain and grow the physical infrastructure of their cloud, and they need a Data Center Engineer to play a key role in the success of their business.

Requirements

  • Experience in deploying, maintaining, and working in a data center environment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in networking, hardware, and Linux operating systems
  • Proficient in Linux OS, including working with terminal sessions and command-line interfaces
  • Experience submitting and tracking remote work requests, as well as managing server and component inventory
  • Ability to work with Linux OS, including terminal sessions and command-line interfaces
  • Experience with networking, hardware, and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair hardware, execute upgrades, and perform hardware installations

Responsibilities

  • Deploying and maintaining Data Center infrastructure
  • Racking, stacking and wiring servers, power distribution units, and switches
  • Installing servers, switches, routers, and storage hardware
  • Submitting RMA to equipment manufacturers and shipping and receiving gear to and from remote locations and vendors
  • Submitting and tracking remote work requests and managing server and component inventory
  • Diagnosing and repairing hardware and performing upgrades, integrations, rebuilds and other projects as needed
  • Debugging network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues

  • Valid driver’s license and comfort with driving
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10%–15% travel)
  • Capability to remain on your feet throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and a positive, can-do attitude
