DigitalOcean is looking to maintain and grow the physical infrastructure of their cloud, and they need a Data Center Engineer to play a key role in the success of their business.
Requirements
- Experience in deploying, maintaining, and working in a data center environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills in networking, hardware, and Linux operating systems
- Proficient in Linux OS, including working with terminal sessions and command-line interfaces
- Experience submitting and tracking remote work requests, as well as managing server and component inventory
- Ability to work with Linux OS, including terminal sessions and command-line interfaces
- Experience with networking, hardware, and Linux operating systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair hardware, execute upgrades, and perform hardware installations
Responsibilities
- Deploying and maintaining Data Center infrastructure
- Racking, stacking and wiring servers, power distribution units, and switches
- Installing servers, switches, routers, and storage hardware
- Submitting RMA to equipment manufacturers and shipping and receiving gear to and from remote locations and vendors
- Submitting and tracking remote work requests and managing server and component inventory
- Diagnosing and repairing hardware and performing upgrades, integrations, rebuilds and other projects as needed
- Debugging network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues
Other
- Valid driver’s license and comfort with driving
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10%–15% travel)
- Capability to remain on your feet throughout the workday
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and a positive, can-do attitude
