UT Southwestern needs to ensure continuous systems and facility uptime in their data center environment by performing systems administration duties on large-scale computer systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure (DCIM) applications and systems management.
  • Understanding of design, configuration, and implementation related to data center network, information systems, and DC operations.
  • Intermediate experience in data center operations and management.
  • Intermediate networking experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of databases and scripting.
  • Strong proficiency in server OS and hardware.
  • Familiar with a variety of IT hardware, such as servers, cables, power systems, and cooling equipment needed to maintain the physical safety of an IT facility.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and remediates problems involving operating systems, database systems, applications, and other technologies.
  • Troubleshoots system components and recommends improvements in support of an efficient, highly available data center operation.
  • Designs and implements data system components under the direction of Managers and other levels of Systems Engineers.
  • Works to identify and propose innovative and creative solutions that enhance or increase the efficiency of the services provided by Information Resources to the campus community.
  • Develops and reviews specifications for data system components and services.
  • Assists in the development of test plans and documentation of recovery procedures.
  • Assists with the development of guidelines related to the design, implementation, and monitoring of information technology systems at a data center and other application systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work is performed in a general office area and is 100% on site.
  • Candidate's must reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex or be willing to relocate.
