TeachTown is seeking a Product Data Engineer to own and evolve its data platform. This role will lead the design and delivery of datasets and reports that support customer-facing insights on student progression and curriculum outcomes, as well as internal dashboards that drive product usage insights and strategic decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data visualization using any BI tool (Amazon QuickSight preferred).
- 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL and T-SQL or equivalent RDBMS.
- 2+ years of experience with scripting in Python
- Strong SQL skills with proven experience working on large, complex datasets.
- At least 1 year of experience with debugging, performance profiling, and query optimization.
- At least 1 year of experience with security and privacy protocols for proper data handling.
- Experience with Amazon QuickSight, PostgreSQL, and dbt (Data Build Tool).
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings like RDS, Lambda, SQS.
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques and building scalable reporting pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and iterate upon the architecture within TeachTown’s data platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and clarity in data modeling and reporting.
- Design, develop, and maintain the reporting pipeline from data ingestion to visualizations for both external and internal users.
- Create and manage datasets and dashboards that track student outcomes and curriculum engagement using Amazon QuickSight and other data visualization tools.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to define and implement reporting solutions.
- Write complex, performant SQL queries to extract, analyze, and present data for a variety of use cases.
- Conduct problem analysis and troubleshoot complex data issues across ETL and reporting systems.

- Limited travel is expected for this role.
