For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space, the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on. Column aims to simplify and fix this by offering technology-forward banking solutions that cut out the hundreds of vendors, middleware providers, and abstraction layers.
Requirements
- Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines in production
- Strong fluency with SQL and at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Go)
- Understanding of data privacy and security best practices in a regulated environment
- Bonus: experience with banking/financial systems, compliance reporting, or financial modeling
Responsibilities
- Design and own Column’s data infrastructure and ETL pipelines
- Partner with product and infra teams to define eventing strategy and log structure
- Build tools for internal users (Finance, Risk, Compliance, Ops) to self-serve critical data
- Own data models and warehouse architecture across core banking systems
- Ensure data quality, observability, and regulatory compliance (e.g., audit trails)
- Define best practices for analytics engineering and scalable reporting
Other
- 5+ years of experience as a data or software engineer, ideally at a startup or high-growth fintech
- A bias toward simplicity, with a track record of building maintainable systems
- in-person role located in our Presidio-based, San Francisco office (3-4 days/week)
