Harris Investments is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain a next-generation data platform to support investment research, reporting, and strategic decision-making. The goal is to deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions that drive business insights across the firm.

Requirements

  • 5+ years (combined) experience in a Data Architecture/Engineering role within Trading, Investment Banking, or Asset Management environments.
  • Experience in implementation of cloud-based data lake / data warehousing platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and ETL.
  • Experience with Data Visualization and BI Tools (Tableau / PowerBI).
  • Solid understanding of SQL (T-SQL) and RDBMS (SQL Server).
  • Experience with data integration and ETL tools and patterns.
  • Exposure to financial industry data platforms (e.g., Charles River, FactSet, Bloomberg, Eagle).

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop a cloud-based data platform to support analytics, reporting, and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and quants to design BI dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including integration patterns and architectural diagrams.
  • Contribute to code reviews and enforce high-quality engineering standards.
  • Provide production support for business-critical data pipelines and infrastructure, including occasional weeknight and weekend support as needed.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to work in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment. Ability to work together with development team members and convey thoughts clearly and concisely in a 24 x 6 environment.
  • Strong analytical skills while paying attention to details.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with full systems development lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile/Scrum methodology and Jira (Preferred).
  • Experience with source control tools (e.g. SVN, Git), including branching and merging (Preferred).
