Element is looking to solve the business problem of delivering high-quality data solutions for a government contract by hiring a Data Engineer who can design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, transform raw data into actionable insights, and ensure data quality and compliance with government standards.
Requirements
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica, dbt, or similar).
- Experience programming in Python, Java, Scala, or other relevant languages.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services (S3, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Data Lake).
- Understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) is preferred.
- Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to government data projects (NIST, FedRAMP, Section 508, HIPAA).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for data engineering, CI/CD, and containerization.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, process, and store structured and unstructured data.
- Build and optimize data models, databases, and data warehouses for analytical and operational use.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and monitoring for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy scalable and secure data solutions.
- Ensure compliance with government security, privacy, and data governance standards (NIST, FedRAMP, HIPAA if applicable).
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or database management.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
- Must reside in the Continental US.
