DigitalOcean is seeking a Marketing Data Engineer to support acquisition and growth marketing initiatives by developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and systems, ensuring marketing and growth teams have access to accurate, timely, and actionable data for strategic decision-making, and directly impacting the company's ability to scale its customer base and improve overall marketing effectiveness.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data pipeline development
- Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT architecture, and pipeline orchestration
- Hands-on experience with cloud data tools such as Snowflake, Segment, Airflow, and Jitsu
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of data governance, validation, and quality monitoring frameworks
- Experience with full-stack engineering, including backend and frontend systems (Go, React, Node.js, Typescript/JavaScript)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation best practices
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines to extract data from backend services and load into Snowflake for analysis
- Develop and optimize data workflows that enable real-time customer data availability across marketing channels and dashboards
- Implement data validation, quality assurance, and governance frameworks to ensure high data integrity and compliance
- Build services to extract data from key systems such as Marketo and Jitsu, ensuring clean ingestion into our Customer Data Platform (Segment)
- Automate processes and maintain documentation for data pipelines and infrastructure
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to ensure operational stability
- Contribute to the development of scalable data solutions that support business growth and customer engagement strategies
Other
- Reporting directly to the Director of Growth Analytics and Operations
- Collaborate with Growth Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Marketing teams to support experimentation, measurement, and personalization efforts
- Participate in cross-team projects, shipping code into product and backend infrastructure to meet data goals
- Prior experience in growth experimentation, digital marketing ecosystems, or product-led growth strategies is a plus
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
