Davidson is seeking a Data Engineer to support the SCALE (Supply Chain Analytics and Logistics Environment) development program. This role is an integral part of a high-visibility, cross-functional team driving data transformation for defense supply chain analytics. The successful candidate will help design, develop, and operationalize data pipelines, visual analytics, and reporting systems that enhance decision-making across procurement, logistics, and forecasting operations.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Power BI (including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling)
- Proficiency with SQL for data extraction, transformation, and relational schema design.
- Experience with database systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Amazon RDS
- Experience with Python or similar languages
- Experience building star schemas and fact/dimension models to support BI reporting.
- Familiarity with data engineering workflows, including ETL orchestration and API-based data integration.
- Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and preparing data for AI/ML analytics.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards and data models to deliver actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Design and manage relational databases and data pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring integrity, consistency, and traceability.
- Perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations and automate data refresh processing using Power Query, SQL and related tools.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities across procurement and logistics data.
- Support the design of data governance standards, ensuring compliance with IL5/CUI and DOD data security requirements.
- Collaborate with the product team, software developers, and cybersecurity personnel to define data schemas and align reporting with system architecture.
Other
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Data Analyst/Engineer, ideally in a DOD, logistics, or supply chain environment.
- Ability to derive meaningful insights from large, complex datasets and communicate them visually and verbally.
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, version control, and collaborative development practices.
- Experience applying Agile and Scrum methodologies in data analytics projects.
- Familiarity with DOD data classification and cybersecurity frameworks (CUI, ILs, RMF)
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance (not required to start)
