Google's Geo team needs a Data Engineer to build and operate massive-scale data pipelines for acquiring and ensuring the quality of petabytes of satellite and aerial Overhead Imagery, which is the foundation for Google Maps, Google Earth, and critical initiatives. The role also involves supporting external clients and product partners by leveraging emerging technologies and overseeing the technical execution of online advertising platforms and product partnerships.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience working with data infrastructure and data models by performing exploratory queries and scripts.
- 3 years of experience designing data pipelines, and dimensional data modeling for synch and asynch system integration and implementation using internal (e.g., Flume, etc.) and external stacks (DataFlow, Spark, etc.).
- 3 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, R, etc.) for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
- 3 years of experience analyzing data, database querying (e.g., SQL), and creating dashboards/reports.
- 3 years of experience with statistical methodology and data consumption tools such as business intelligence tools, collabs, jupyter notebooks, Tableau, Power BI, DataStudio, and business intelligence platforms.
- Experience with machine learning for production workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data processing systems with a particular emphasis on security, compliance, scalability, efficiency, reliability, and portability.
- Develop and maintain data models, pipelines, and exchange formats to assist in the visualization, analysis, and interpretation of data and for use of data in ML training/models.
- Provide ongoing support for data users through maintenance of reports, queries, and dashboards, fielding user questions, authoring documentation, and delivering training.
- Contribute to the design, and separately develop, test, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for acquiring and processing petabyte-scale satellite and aerial imagery.
- Identify and implement optimizations within the data infrastructure to enhance performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
- Oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's online advertising platforms and/or product partnerships.
- Build tools and automate products.

- Responsible for the technical relationship of our largest advertising clients and/or product partners.
- Lead cross-functional teams in Engineering, Sales and Product Management to leverage emerging technologies for our external clients/partners.
- Balance business and partner needs with technical constraints, develop innovative, cutting edge solutions and act as a partner and consultant to those you are working with.
- Develop product strategy and prioritize projects and resources.
- Play a key role in how Google visually represents and understands the world.
