TikTok's Privacy and Data Protection Office (PDPO) is seeking a Data Engineer Intern to enhance foundational data engineering infrastructure, build automated pipelines, and integrate data from APIs to drive privacy-related insights and monitoring, ensuring user privacy is honored across TikTok's products and platforms.
Requirements
- Solid programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in schema design and ETL development.
- Experience with API integration and automated data pipeline design.
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hive, Spark, Kafka, Flink).
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, dashboards).
Responsibilities
- Enhance and optimize current data infrastructure, improving data processing and pipeline performance.
- Design and build automated pipelines for data collection, transformation, and reporting.
- Develop data integrations via APIs to ensure seamless and reliable data ingestion.
- Collaborate with the team to explore the integration of LLMs and agent-based systems into data workflows.
- Conduct data investigations and analysis to detect privacy risks and support incident response.
- Build scalable monitoring systems with automated alerts for privacy compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, security, and legal) to deliver robust data solutions.
Other
- Current pursuing an Undergraduate or Master in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics or related technical fields.
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026
- Strong problem-solving, communication and presentation skills, and self-driven work ethic.
- Knowledge of privacy, data security, or compliance is a plus.
- Familiarity with TikTok/Douyin’s product features is a plus.
