The Boeing Company is seeking a Data Governance Subject Matter Expert to lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of Boeing’s enterprise data governance program for aviation initiatives, with a strong focus on regulatory and contractual controls.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior management, customers, stakeholders, peers and partners
  • 10+ years of experience implementing privacy frameworks, privacy principles and compliance requirements (e.g., privacy by design, ISO/NIST, APEC, GAPP, GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, cookie compliance, etc.)
  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related function within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
  • 10+ years of experience with integrating export controls, sanctions, or government contract requirements (ITAR/EAR/GTC/CDRL) into data governance
  • Experience with data catalog, MDM, and metadata tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud data controls, tenant segregation, and data residency constraints
  • Experience with translating policy into operational controls and tooling requirements

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and operationalize enterprise data governance policies, standards, and processes (data classification, data ownership, metadata, retention, stewardship)
  • Define and socialize data classification taxonomy aligned to aviation programs and export/trade controls (ITAR, EAR, GTC), and produce guidance and templates (labels, metadata)
  • Establish and maintain data stewardship model: identify data owners/stewards, document responsibilities, and create onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Partner with Export Compliance, Legal, Contracts, InfoSec, Procurement, and Program Management to ensure governance meets contractual (CDRL/GTC) and export obligations and supports flow‑down requirements
  • Advise on cross‑border data flows, deemed export risks, and sanctioned/denied‑party exposure; support vendor assessments and contractual language for flow‑downs
  • Lead governance forums (steering committee, data council), create KPIs and compliance metrics, and report program maturity to senior leadership
  • Support policy exception request reviews and documented risk acceptance processes

Other

  • 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior management, customers, stakeholders, peers and partners
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience
  • U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
