The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network is seeking to advance biological research and discovery by leveraging machine learning, statistics, language modelling, and AI, and is looking for a computational biologist to join their interdisciplinary team to design, evaluate, and publish innovative computational methodologies.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, AI / Machine learning, Biology, Applied Statistics or a MS plus relevant job experience.
- Experience with and understanding of enterprise software and distributed cloud computing environments.
- Background in relevant areas of biomedical science, demonstrating a deep understanding of cellular biology, transcription or protein signal transduction.
- 1-3 years of post-doctoral and/or industry experience demonstrating the ability to implement, evaluate, and create new computational methodologies that leverage machine learning, statistics, and AI for biological research and discovery.
- Experience in building and evaluating machine learning and/or neural network models on biological data is desired.
- Proven track record of individual innovation, as well as a strong ability to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated commitment to open science and alignment with the mission and values of CZ Biohub.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative program that aligns with the mission of CZ Biohub NY.
- Develop and implement strategies to incorporate relevant available datasets to develop predictive models, as well as organize internal and external datasets to promote efficient research cycles.
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary research environment to develop, test, share and validate datasets and models that contribute to the overall goals of the NY Biohub.
- Develop software and tools to enable visibility and usability of a large and multi modal set of datasets.
- Communicate progress and results with colleagues inside and outside of your team.
- Publish and disseminate impactful findings through preprints (medRxiv, bioRxiv) and/or software repositories (e.g., GitHub).
- Engage with colleagues throughout the Biohub to uphold our values of scholarly excellence, innovation, open communication, hands-on hacking, and partnership.

- Outstanding organizational and communication skills within a software or engineering related organization.
