The Missile Defense Agency's Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) program requires a Data Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of test and mission data across MDA systems, ensuring accurate, secure, and timely delivery of data products to support analysis and decision-making.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of end-to-end data lifecycle management (collection, validation, ingestion, dissemination, archival).
- Familiarity with data governance principles, metadata standards, and retention policy enforcement.
- Hands-on experience with custom or mission-specific data systems; adaptability to non-COTS environments.
- Working knowledge of SQL or similar query/reporting tools preferred.
- Experience with data transfer protocols, data handling, and classified data workflows.
- Familiarity with mission test environments, metadata standards, and secure data handling.
- Experience in multi-domain data environments (classified/unclassified).
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary interface with test data producers to ensure timely, standardized delivery of data products defined in Integrated Data Management Plans (IDMPs) and Data Handling Plans (DHPs).
- Manage data transfers via secure file transfer and synchronization tool (e.g. IBM Aspera) and physical media; execute parsing, cataloging, ingestion, and archival processes in accordance with SOPs and mission timelines.
- Track, validate, and report data delivery status from receipt through dissemination and archival, ensuring metadata completeness and policy compliance.
- Apply and enforce MDA-approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and metadata standards; identify gaps and recommend updates.
- Verify data format and metadata compliance from providers; collaborate with Mission Data Owners to address non-standard inputs.
- Ensure compliance with retention schedules; coordinate archival and destruction activities with proper documentation and traceability.
- Operate AIMSS mission tools such as the Data Management System (DMS), Library Control Center (LCC), and other purpose-built data management tools; interface with software teams for system issues or enhancements.

- Active DoD Secret clearance required; must maintain eligibility throughout employment.
- Must reside within 50 miles of Redstone Arsenal or be willing to relocate.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to interface directly with test data producers, Mission Data Owners (MDOs), and MDA program elements; serves as a subject matter expert on data management processes, standards, and best practices.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
