The FDNY Bureau of Strategic Initiatives' Data Quality unit needs to generate actionable insights through analysis, reporting, and visualizations to support evidence-based decision-making and ensure accountability and transparency. This role connects the FDNY's internal data efforts with the public through Open Data initiatives.
Requirements
- skilled in creating data visualizations and metrics
- Excellent programming skills in SQL and Python
- Knowledge of basic statistics
Responsibilities
- rigorously performing data quality checks and anomaly detection
- support the building of interactive dashboards, primarily using Tableau/PowerBI and modern Python frameworks (Dash/Streamlit)
- swift fulfilling of ad-hoc data requests
- designing appropriate metrics to track and report on departmental performance
- responding to public inquiries
- representing the Department at Open Data Events
- gathering feedback from the community

- New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
