Via is looking to innovate its business models and products by leveraging quantitative & statistical techniques.
Requirements
- Have conducted scientific research as an undergraduate, completing at least one project that was heavy in the analysis of interesting data and/or utilized statistical modeling and/or stochastic simulations, in either an academic environment or during an internship.
- Have written at least 2,000 lines of high-quality functional or object-oriented code in Python or other language suitable for data analytics.
- Prior experience with SQL is a plus.
- Authorship of one or more high-impact publications is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Use statistical modeling to make inferences and predictions, for example about the behavior of drivers and riders in our deployments.
- Gain an understanding of entity-relationship models, help organize data at Via, and build custom datasets for internal and external stakeholders.
- Hone your presentation and communication skills by giving regular reports on your progress and findings.
Other
- Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top-tier university in neuroscience, physics, biology, math, economics, computer science, operations research, or other highly quantitative field, and a record of exceptional academic achievement.
- Are hungry for knowledge. You enjoy reading and understanding scientific textbooks, and often build toy implementations of new techniques to see how they function.
- Are a natural relationship builder that values camaraderie, comes with a sense of humor, and doesn't take themselves too seriously.
- Can think on your feet and are curious, coachable, and self-motivated.
