DICK'S Sporting Goods is looking to fuel the Digital Transformation of a multi-billion-dollar omni-channel business through data science and analytics, and is seeking a Data Science Intern to contribute to the organization's success.
Requirements
- Exposure to modern programming languages, particularly Python
- Experience with Agile Development and knowledge of Agile Deployment tools and versioning using Git or similar tools
- Experience in a Linux or Unix based environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Responsibilities
- Collaborate and pair with other internal DSG teams (Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Architects)
- Research data from digital product/service performance, customer behavior, and market trends to identify opportunities for product/service improvement with guidance from other teammates.
- Run predictive analyses and machine learning models. Perform model assessments, validation, and enhancement activities, using predictive analytics software, tools and functionalities.
- Make recommendations to improve data and analytics systems and platforms, contributing to the continuous improvement and refinement of data and analytics strategy.
- Support creation of machine learning models by applying standard statistical analysis or data preparation methods.
- Learn to use source control systems and write prod supportable code. Learn the concepts of deploying machine learning models within a machine learning platform. Research machine learning libraries and models.
- Explore and develop a basic understanding of external developments or emerging issues within the field of data science.

- Strong verbal communication skills to read and write reports, as well as communicate cross-functionally and vertically throughout the organization
